Humane Society

We work in with the Humane Society of New Zealand, it is a great rescue and they go above and beyond for their animals. We work closely with one very dedicated local volunteer who does a tremendous job. Find out more about them below. The Humane Society of New Zealand Inc. endeavours to improve the situation of needy animals as it is made aware of them. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome.
We rescue dogs from Animal shelters when their 7-day period for claiming has ended and they are due for euthanasia. We rehabilitate these dogs according to their needs. They are fully Vet checked, treated for worms and fleas, vaccinated, desexed, registered and microchipped. They are then carefully rehomed following a detailed procedure and property check. The Society provides support to the new owners over the rehoming time and is always available for ongoing advice and assistance.
The Humane Society of New Zealand Inc was established as a registered charity in 1975. The society does not own facilities but relies on its volunteers to take the rescued animals into their homes with their own families and animals. Started by a small group of volunteers it continues to be run totally by volunteers. The Society receives no funding at all, relying on membership, donations and bequests to continue its work.
